Events Schedule
Hullabaloo events run over 5 nights in some spectacular venues around Perth and Fremantle. Things to look forward to are;
- 8 social events including a formal themed ‘Casablanca Ball’ and The ‘Hullabaloo Hop’ at the spectacular Perth Town Hall;
- Live music by some of Perth’s best swing bands;
- 2 days of workshops, 9 hours of classes and 3 learning streams with international, national and local teachers;
- plenty of out-of-towners and locals to dance with!!
- PLUS all the usual craziness over the ANZAC day long weekend!

Thursday night
Western Night!
Say ‘Yeeeha!!!’ at our official Hullabaloo 2010 opening dance. The registration desk will be open so come and pick up your passes and shirts. It’s ‘Western Night’ so think like John Wayne or Cat Ballou, throw on a hat and mosey on down to the Hullabaloo corral and enjoy this gorgeous 1930s art deco locale. Sip a few drinks out on the balcony, take in the breeze and dance the night away to great tunes spun by our selection of DJs. No BYO, full bar available and cafe downstairs for the early cowboys and girls. Light finger food included

Friday
A Friday feature – at Little Creatures!
Drop on in to Little Creatures Brewery in Fremantle for lunch or a few beers before heading out for the evening dance. LCs is a favourite with local and out-of-town dancers during Hullabaloo and this year we thought we’d add it to the official schedule so everyone can pop on down. While you are in the area, take your out-of-town guests on a tour of historic Fremantle…always worth a look.

The Mustang Mixer
The Mustang Bar is Perth’s regular Friday night swing dance hotspot. Catch up with old friends, introduce yourself to new faces and dance to the lively swingin’ jazz and rockin’ blues of regulars Adam Hall & the Velvet Playboys. Schmooze with the whole Hullabaloo crowd in a lively social venue and get some dancing under your belt! If you missed Thursday night you’ll have a second chance to register. Get down early for your ‘Happy Hour’ drinks opportunity from 7pm. No BYO, full bar available and nibbles.

Shipwrecked on the Swan!!
Ahoy there mateys! Plot a course for the Perth Dinghy Club for a night of ‘dancing treasure’ at this 1903 venue. Located right on the edge of the Swan River you can dance up a storm to our swing DJs inside or out on the balcony above the river in the fresh air. Be it sailor or pirate or nautical goddess of the sea…you are all welcome here aboard HMAS Lindy Hop. Another chance to register and pick up your Hullabaloo passes at the rego desk. The Hullabaloo Hop!
Get your tickets and come on down town to the gorgeous Perth Town Hall, built in 1870 right in the centre of the city with a huge wooden dance floor! The Hullabaloo Hop brings you a night of swing dancing, live music, fun and craziness! Cut a rug into the evening to the sounds of awesomely swingin’ 17 piece Oz Big Band and be sure to join in on Hullabaloo’s famous crazy Jack n Jill contest for a chance to win a Hulla social pass for 2011! Soft drinks on sale. *Please use soft soled shoes only on the Town Hall floor – no hard or leather soles.

Film Noir “Double Screening” dance!
An all night dance featuring of your favourite thing – swing – in two DJd rooms: our Lindy Hop room offering bursts of Balboa beauty, and the other – a blissful Blues room. It’s a chance for Hullabaloo hard-core dancers to swing the night away, chill out or, if you feel hungry in the morning, Fast Eddie’s is a short walk away and is open 24 hours. Soft drinks on sale.

The ‘Casablanca’ Hullabaloo Ball
Take a trip back in time to glamourous 1930s Hollywood. When Bette Davis and Jean Harlow captured mens’ hearts and Errol Flynn and Jimmy Stewart made the ladies swoon. Bogart and Gable were the men of the hour and when Crawford and Garbo were the ladies to be. Featuring one of Perth’s premier swingin’ groups – Denise Dale and the Speakeasy Six. Also included with your ticket price for this fantastic evening is light finger-food, all soft drinks and bottled water, Belle & Beau of the ball competition, guest teacher performances and a complimentary drink of your choice on arrival. And most importantly – hours of social dancing on a magnificently large wooden floor in the grandiose surrounds of The Perth Town Hall. Alcoholic beverages will be for sale at the bar at very reasonable prices – including our very own 2010 special edition ‘Lindy Hopps’ beer. Strictly no BYO.

A late night Thriller!
Just like a Hitchcock movie – it’s time be thrilled by the sounds of DJs from all over the country and overseas. Then join in on our exciting ‘Solo Charleston’ competition for some fun. Dance early into the morning and relax with friends. The DJs will be playing tunes til the early hours so fear not if you don’t get your fill of dancing at the ball. Nibbles and soft drinks will be available for purchase.

Relax & Recovery at Kings Park
Enjoy a lazy afternoon picnic to recoup from the previous night’s dancing madness in the relaxing surrounds of Perth’s jewel of the city – Kings Park. BYO drinks, food, boccie sets, chairs, blankets etc and chill out with friends.

A Day at the Races
Our Frankie Manning Memorial Dance. Dedicated the most beloved Lindy Hopper of all time, who sadly passed away this time last year. Enjoy the last Hullabaloo shindig with a OTT Chicago Swing and marvel at old dance footage from the 1930s and 40s which will be projected for your viewing pleasure throughout the night. Have a farewell dance and drink with your friends, chat or just wind down on the balcony overlooking Fremantle. A chance for everyone to hang out under the Hullabaloo banner for the last time and dance a Shim Sham for Frankie. No BYO as full bar available.
