Hullabaloo 2018 Committee – Expressions of Interest
Presented by: Perth Swing Dance Society
Whilst Hullabaloo 2017 might now be a distant memory, we’re starting to look towards Hulla 2018.
This means we are after people to join the Committee, and come to meetings, and be a part of the planning, and form lifelong Stockholm-esque bonds with your fellow inmat… committee members. So if you want to come and be a committee member, we’d love that. But if you just don’t have that much to give, that’s okay too.
Jobs include (but not limited to) setting up and packing down events, helping at workshops, scouting & managing venues, coordinating supplies and getting everything from a to b to c, managing volunteers, hosting, registrations, secretarial jobs like note taking and document checking, researching and applying for grants, helping with DJs and bands, looking at marketing and promotions, and running individual events.
If there’s anything here that appeals to you, or if you have any questions, please feel free to have a chat to Amanda Giglia, Luke Rokich, Emily Clarke or Elida Solecio. You can also message the FB page, or drop us an email at hullainfo@gmail.com. Help us make Hulla 2018 as awesome as all the rest.

Can’t Stop the Lindy Hop shirts
A few years a go the PSDS designed a fun T-shirt for the society. We wanted something other than our logo so Michelle Turner put together this ‘Can’t Stop the Lindy Hop’ design for us featuring original Lindy Hoppers Willa Mae Ricker and Leon James. It is still available on Red Bubble and you can custom design it by choosing different shirt colours, shirt styles and even hoodies. We’ve seen a few people around town wearing them but wanted to remind new and long term dancers that they are available online here. $25AUD for shirts, more for hoodies and other variations.
Hullabaloo 2016 photos
Here are the links to pretty much ALL the photos taken at Hullabaloo this year by amazing photographers Mark Rontondella, Fudz Qazi and Stephen Endicott. These guys run around at events taking pics purely for fun and totally volunteer their time. The photos show the pure joy and fun that is Lindy Hop and capture the spirit of our events perfectly. Thanks again guys!

May is Frankie Manning Month!
Frankie Manning’s birthday is May 26 but his birthdays never could be contained to just a single day of celebration. So we use the entire month of May to honor Frankie’s contributions to Lindy Hop and his positive spirit.
In the spirit of Frankie, we encourage you to:
- Party like Frankie! Throw a swingin’ birthday party or a lindy hop dance that Frankie would have enjoyed.
- Play the music of the Savoy Ballroom and the big bands of the swing era.
- Hold Frankie Manning inspired dance classes and workshops.
- Share Frankie videos and stories.
Consider donating proceeds from your Frankie Month activities to the Frankie Manning Foundation. The Frankie Manning Foundation preserves Frankie’s legacy and promotes Lindy Hop worldwide through events and celebrations, as well ambassador programs, scholarships and youth initiatives.
If you don’t know who Frankie is you can find out all about him in the Music and Resources. directory.
